bah I have not read S & A or any Ransome ever. So I'll go and google some more q14 and leave you Lollards to get on with it.

x: the non-armadillo chap, was he called Bill? that is the name that first springs to mind: that and Titty being chagrined, and after they'd made him a box and everything (i think it was a land-based one: would it have been swallowdale?).

Timothy! yes, indeed. I think it is pigeon post! it's certainly the one where they think themselves gold-prospectors but instead find that more wonderful metal copper, and Dick learns important facts about the scientific method, and there is a great dreadful fire (do they not hide out in the cave in swallowdale for a bit?).

i: who stood in for Sam Bideford? <--- no recollection unless THIS is peter duck (seem to recall they hire PD when someone else fails to turn up)
ii: horrid George but i forget the details (B6)
iii: doctor’s son set a boat adrift -- Hullabaloo's boat? The Margoleta? I thought it was an ENEMY'S boat, to prtect a coot's nest? (CC)
iv: the local kid walked on the mud with big round mud-shows, ie "splatchers", and the walkers thought he was a an mastodon (SW)
v: gibber sets lights to and sinks or blows up one or more ships -- names i haf forgot (PD?)
vi: nasty mr jemmrling wants an EGG i sed EGG of the rare grebt northern (GN)
vii: camping more than sailing, they climb kanchenjunga and find the little cahe left by nancy and peggy's mum and late dad while they were courting (SD) (great aunt action?)
viii: mumps semi-puts the kibosh on the polar race -- first D&D book, WH (my mum's favourite)
ix: not at all sure of this -- but in WDMtGtS do they not encounter blatic boats? (they don't get to the baltic obv, just holland)
x: capt flint sed he was sending them timothy -- viz not an armadillo but squashy hat; they prospect for gold, find FOOL's gold, moor is set on fire (not by them) and they hide in an old tunnel which COLLAPSES and they have to exist elsewhere -- PP (great aunt action?)

ii. George has been casting off boats in the dark & blaming it on the Coots FOR NO REASON other than that he takes a dislike to them; Dick sets up his box brownie w/flash on the tripod, and catches George in the act, then races down to the police station waving the photo as it develops & gets there at the last minute!
iii. Margoletta with two T's! Tom is the doctor's son who saves the coots' nest.
v. was Missee Lee - it was the Wildcat that caught fire, the kids & Cap'n Flint had to escape in Swallow and Amazong.

ix. Could this be the unfinished Coots In The North?
IIRC SD and P&D have grebt aunt action but not PP (I'm sure GA would've objected to Sappho & co ringing bells the entire time!)

ix. No you're right, I think it's the (Latvian?) ship they passed who shouted at them for not having their lights on? Just before they picked up Sinbad?
